Client Administrator at Sörbyn Prison

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding on, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Umeå area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the Umeå detention center. We are undergoing significant capacity increases, and there is a lot happening in the area in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. At Sörbyn prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry, plant cultivation, textiles, etc. Sörbyn is an agricultural prison with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At Umeå prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchen, learning centers, and treatment programs. The prison and detention center Umeå are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and Sörbyn is easiest to reach by car. Staff parking is available at all units.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a client administrator at Sörbyn prison, you will prepare and present client cases and make certain client decisions according to delegation and work order, such as permission planning. You will be responsible for the overall client work, under the guidance of the correctional inspector, which includes ensuring quality, developing, and following up on execution planning and case management. The role also includes handling misconduct cases and collaborating with probation and other authorities.

You will work with investigations and decision-making according to the Prison Act and make assessments based on applicable regulations, guidelines, and practices. Furthermore, it includes, in dialogue with the correctional inspector, developing and ensuring the quality of the justice work and continuously mentoring and training staff in the client process.

We are looking for someone who has:

• University or college education with a legal, social, or behavioral science focus, or other education combined with experience that the employer deems equivalent
• Ability to express oneself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Good computer skills

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• Experience in calculating sentences and handling judgments
• Experience and knowledge of case management within public administration
• Experience in handling client cases in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Knowledge of and experience working with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's client administrative systems
• Experience in client-facing work within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, especially as a Client Administrator
